Online Travel Reservations FAQ

Can I actually book and purchase a ticket through aaa.com?
Yes! aaa.com is a fully-functional, web-based travel reservation service designed especially for AAA members.
What if there is a problem with my ticket?
You can call our customer service representatives at 1-800-430-9001 and talk to a travel agent who can help you. Hours are 8 a.m. - 7 p.m. Mon. - Fri; 8 a.m. - 6 p.m. Sat and 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Sun.
How will I get my tickets?
If the airline you are flying allows it, we will issue an electronic ticket. The primary benefit of electronic tickets is that it eliminates the possibility of lost or forgotten tickets. You will receive an itinerary and receipt via email. If you prefer a paper ticket or if the airline you chose does not offer electronic tickets, we will mail your paper tickets for a $15.00 fee to cover the cost of overnight mail. Should any other special arrangements be needed, please contact one of our travel consultants.
Will I have to give credit card information over the Web?
Yes and no. To join AAA as a new member, a credit card is required. However to make travel reservations you have a choice. To lock in your reservation you will need to supply credit card information, however you also have the option on the final booking pages to send the unfinished booking to a AAA travel agent to complete the transaction. In this case, you are not required to enter your credit card information. A AAA travel agent will call you to complete the reservation.
Is it safe to give my credit card information over the Web?
aaa.com uses Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) and Private Communication Technology security standards supported by Microsoft Internet Explorer 3.0 or later and other popular browsers. SSL encodes your personal information (such as your password, address and phone number, or your credit card number) so that it is available only to you and the aaa.com travel agent who will help make sure your travel planning goes smoothly. This encryption makes doing business over the Internet as secure as making a purchase by telephone.
Why should I use aaa.com instead of a traditional travel agent?
AAA is committed to making the same high level of member service available on the Internet as we do in over 1,100 branch offices across the United States and Canada. aaa.com provides access to these member services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You can expect the same level of trust and comfort booking your travel through aaa.com that you have come to expect from our local branch offices. As a AAA member you will also have access to the familiar AAA travel resources such as TourBook® Guides, TripTik® routings, and much more! AAA members also have access to exclusive discounts, so you can book your travel knowing that you have not overlooked a great deal.
Why should I use aaa.com over another Internet travel service?
aaa.com is designed especially for AAA members, integrating traditional AAA resources such as TourBook® Guides and TripTik® routings, with the online travel reservation process. You will also have access to special member savings available only through AAA travel agencies and aaa.com. Most of all, you'll be traveling with someone you trust.

AAA Membership FAQ

May all members of my family obtain AAA service for our family car(s)?
Yes, if they are AAA members. The AAA membership is an individual membership designed to provide assistance and benefits to the individual not the vehicle. Only the person named on the card is eligible to receive membership benefits. Enrolled associates will receive their own membership cards to present for service. Unmarried dependents 25 years of age and younger also qualify if they reside in the Primary Member's household or are full-time students. Website Issues FAQ

Why do I get a blank screen when trying to access the Internet TripTik® function?
The aaamaps.com loads in a pop-up window which causes ad-blocking or pop-up blocking software to block it. There are two options, you can disable the software when working on our site or you can add www.aaa.com to the list of site exceptions to your ad-blocking/pop-up blocking software.
I have been trying to reserve a hotel room using the AAA website, but after selecting the room and entering my credit card information I end up back at the select a room page. It seems to be in a loop and I am stuck.
Your security settings are probably set too high and it does not allow cookies to be set. If you use Internet Explorer to change your security settings you need to go to Tools, Internet Options and under the Privacy tab set your security level to medium.
I have tried unsuccessfully to print an Internet TripTik®. I have also experienced difficulties with timing-out errors. The four most common issues we come across:
  1. To use aaamaps.com, you must have a browser that is compatible with the system. We support the current version and one version back. In this case that means aaamaps.com is compatible with the following browsers: Internet Explorer 5.5 and above for PC's, 5.1 and higher for Macs, Netscape 6.0 and higher for PC's and 6.2.3 and higher for Macs.
  2. Verify you have JavaScript enabled on your browser, which will allow you to read aaamaps.com.
  3. Do you have ad-blocking software on your system? Because aaamaps.com is a pop-up window it needs to be disabled while you are using it.
  4. In case of corrupt cookies, clear your temporary Internet files (cache) and cookies.
When trying to order a TripTik® online I get the following message: This city is not recognized.
It may be easier to key in just the city names without the state abbreviation.

The order form will respond with a list of available cities that match the city name you entered. If you key in the city followed by the state abbreviation, be sure to use the comma as indicated in the instructions, otherwise the form cannot determine where the city name stops and the state name begins.

Samples of how to enter in cities that have St, Ft or Mt in their names:

  • St Paul, MN (leave out the period after St and do not spell out Saint) OR St Paul
  • Ft Myers, FL (leave out the period after Ft and do not spell out Fort) OR Ft Myers
  • Mt Vernon, WA (leave out the period after Mt and do not spell out Mount) OR Mt Vernon

Note: For online assistance Click the Details and Tips link located next to where you key in the destination city.

Your Online Account FAQ

I have signed up for an online account, but it still insists that I am not a member. If I still cannot access the member-only sections of the site until I'm a member, why the need for an online account?
It is valid to register online without being a member. You have functionality on your site that requires a login but does not require you to be a member to use the functionality, i.e. Air, Car and Hotel. The member/non-member identification is used to determine the correct price for the user. However, AAA is a membership organization made up of dues paying members. Membership includes many services, benefits, savings and information that are not available to non-members. Some pages in our web site contain information that is specific to members, such as exclusive discounts at hotels and resorts and Financial Services.

If you are interested in becoming a member of AAA, please click "Join AAA."

If the system still cannot find your account information, please email info@aaawin.com with:

I joined online and have been accessing the member-only sections of the site ever since then. Now I receive this message: "Members Only. Sorry, this area is for AAA Members only. Join Online today!" Why can I no longer access these member-only sections?
When you joined online, a cookie was placed on your computer to tell our servers that you had completed the online application. After 90 days, however, this cookie expires. This is to compensate for the time it takes to mail your permanent membership card.
If you have received your permanent membership card, please update your online account information with your membership number by following the steps below. If you have not received your permanent membership card, please visit our Contact Us page for information on how to contact our membership services department.

  7. If your card does not have a 16-digit membership number, it is a temporary card. If you have a temporary card, your membership may not be in our system yet, so our system will be unable to verify your membership. Your online account has been created;however, the account will need to be updated to include the membership number once you recieve your permanent card.
I've just joined. What is my membership number?

If you have not received your permanent membership card, please visit our Contact Us page for information on how to contact our membership services department.

Please visit our Contact Us page for information on how to contact our membership services department. Inform them that you would like to transfer your membership to another club and they will notify the new club. At that point, you may hear from the new club to complete the transfer.
